Special Plans:
It will be my 'back to school' sweater for fall. Assuming it fits well, I'll wear it for school pictures. I will be making it a bit shorter (the length given nearly cuts me in half) and adjust the width about one size below the 1X.

Starting: Today, July 3

Bonnie

Crystal Lake, IL

Yarn: Gedifra cotton I have in my stash.

Starting: 2 weeks

Bonnie

Breaux Bridge, LA

Carol Castilow

London Ohio

Yarn: I'm not too sure, I would like to use a cotton blend. Haven't quite worked it out yet. I'm not good at math but I think the size x4. I have to have some one here at home to figure ot the amount of yarn .

Special Plans:
No I just love the sweater. I think it will be a good summer sweater for eveningss

Starting: Hopefuly in June

Carol Holihan

Alexandria, Virginia

Yarn: Jo Sharp Silkroad DK (85% wool, 10% silk, 5% cashmere) in a color I cannot identify right now because I don't have a label with me, but it's a dark purplish heather.

This is a giftie for my daughter-in-law. I've started a sleeve and the yarn just feels yummy.

Starting: 7/14/04

Carol Hurt

Yarn: Rowan Calmer in the color "Night Sky" - supposedly a teal color. I ordered it from UK, so not sure ;) It was 1/2 off prices here in the USA because it's a discontinued color.

Special Plans:
I think I'll put seed stitch at the borders.

Starting: July 1

Carol Myers

Central OH

Yarn: I am using Den-M-Nit Pure Indigo Cotton from Elann in the medium blue.

Special Plans:
I started my sweater the end of March using a pattern I made up with the help of Sweater Wizard. I am using a seed stitch border and put a cable up the center back as well as the front. Since my size is 60 inches I thought breaking up the back would be better as well as more interesting to knit. I have completed the front and back and have started on the first sleeve. It's a short sleeve but is taking much longer to knit than I expected.

Starting: March 26, 2004

Cathy Boone

Weatherford, Texas

Yarn: J & P Coats 100% Acrylic Royale Silkessence Microfiber

I will adapt long sleeves and wear it for winter. I love wool but our winters are not always that cold.

Starting: when I get the yarn

Daphne Basnet

Reservoir, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Yarn: I have about 6 bundles of yarn in my stash which would be suitable. I am intending to start swatching this week and the first one that feels good will be it.

Special Plans:
Not yet. I think first I will make it according to the simplest version of the pattern and see how that goes.

Starting: This week or next

Davira

Milwaukee, WI

Yarn: Plymouth Wildflower DK (51% cotton/49% acrylic) in a lovely creamy color, kind of like French vanilla ice cream (the ball bands don't have color names, only color numbers). I'd also like to try making this pullover in J&P Coats LusterSheen, which is a 100% acrylic, silky feeling fingering weight yarn. I have a more than ample supply in a light green color called Tea Leaf.

Special Plans:
To finish it! I'm still working on my cuff-to-cuff as well...

Starting: on or about June 1

Deanna Kaiser

Covington, Tennessee

Yarn: Tahki Cotton Classic

Special Plans:
Will probably make it longer by 4 or 5 inches. Twisted rib for ribbing.

Starting: immediately

Debi Leshin

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Yarn: Planning on either Classic Elite Imagine in Passionate Purple or Rowan Calmer in Chiffon...waiting on the Calmer to arrive to decide!

Special Plans:
Gonna stay close to the original with seed stitch borders but may change as the KAL gets going.

Starting: On or close to June 1 when the yarn arrives

Elise

Davenport, FL

Yarn: Cotton Comfort, Cotton Fleece, or Sierra

Special Plans: just to wear it proudly

Starting: 5/30/04

Elizabeth Neumann

Houston, TX

Yarn: Schoeller + Stahl Bandolino (cotton/microfiber) in a pale blue. This yarn has been mellowing in the stash for a while, wanting to be a short-sleve textured pullover, and I think now is the time.

Special Plans:
I'm planning to add short rows at the bust in both the front and the back. The ones in the back will be smaller. A gal at my LYS shaped a sweater this way, and it looks very nice. I may also add a little shaping at the waist.

Starting: May 27 (a vacation project)

Gail

Stoneham, MA, USA

Yarn: Filatura Lanarota Luxor Plus-Teal

Special Plans:
Maybe short row shaping.

Starting: 6/1/04

Gina Piscitelli

Oakland, CA

Special Plans:
Not yet

Starting: End of May (2008)

Glenna Stansifer

Independence, CA, USA

Yarn: Filatura Lanarota Luxor DK: cotton/acrylic blend. Color - denim blue

Special Plans:
Basically just to get it done. My track record on many of the KALs isn't good - as a matter of fact (except for the More than a Sweatshirt), me officially joining a KAL has been the kiss of death for the project. Hopefully this one doesn't go the way of the Einstein and the Cuff to Cuff. ;-)

Starting: As soon as the yarn comes - swatching, at least

Grace Petersen

Neenah, WI, USA

Yarn: Debbie Bliss wool/cotton, light taupe, or coned silk/cotton, aubergine

Special Plans:
Will probably add short-rows for bust darts. Might skip ribbing & use crocheted crabstitch edging instead.

Starting: May 25

Hester Sturrock

Atlanta, GA

Yarn: Berroco's Cotton Twist - light pink.

Special Plans:
I am using the 8 x 8 cable. I made the hem about 2 inches long using seed stitch. I am using a size 7 needle. I am making the front and back of the sweater several inches shorter from the center to the sides. I am doing this because I want to be able to add about 2 inches of seed stitch at each of the side edges on the front and back. I will knit the seed stitch side edges separately and then seam them on.

Starting: already started

irene assaf

los altos, california,use

Yarn: Garnstudio's silke - tweed, if it's the right gauge.

Special Plans:
Not yet. except that i haven't done a sweater for a long time and thought it was about time and i love cables.

Starting: june 1st

Janet Tippens

Forest Park, GA USA

Yarn: Bergere de France Laine du Pays 100% wool

Special Plans:
Since I will never finish it in time to wear in the summer and really want to use the Bergere de France in a project, I will be using wool and possibly either making the sleeves full length or eliminating them entirely and adding bands at the armholes to make it into a vest.

Starting: immediately

Janna Clark

Portland, Oregon

Yarn: I'm using a white yarn I picked up a few years ago on sale at Bellevue (WA) shop Skeins Ltd. It's Gedifra's Fashion Time, which is an 80% cotton and 20% nylon knitted tube. The nylon peeking through the cotton gives the yarn just a hint of a sheen.

Special Plans:
I love this pattern and hope to make several garments from it.

This first version will be sleeveless, to wear under work jackets and cardis. I'm knitting to a smaller gauge than recommended on my yarn's ball band because I want this shell to function as a first layer--in other words, I don't want any show-through. So far, my strategy seems to be working. How nice it will be to have a white shell that doesn't reveal everything!

I've elected to do a narrow garter-stitch border and the 6x6 cable with a middle stitch. I've also chosen to work my garment in the round.

Starting: Started 5/21/04

Jeannie Prince

Hawkinsville, GA 31036 United States

Yarn: Red Heart Acrylic.

Special Plans:
I would like to wear it out "on the town." I would like one for special occasions and another for when I want to feel special.

Jennifer Marshall

Allen, Texas

Special Plans:

Starting: 6-20

Jennifer ONeal-Watts

Sacramento, CA

Yarn: Still deciding.....

Special Plans:
No--this will be my first sweater so my only plan is to finish it!

Starting: June 1, If the yarn has arrived

Jessie "DeeDee" Johnson

Pace, FL

Yarn: Aunt Lydia's Denim Crochet (if swatch works out) in a khaki color.

Special Plans:
The pattern is special enough in my opinion. As of right now, I don't plan on changing anything!

Starting: As soon as I finish my Shapely Tee.

Jill Delgado

Roseville, California

Yarn: Filatura Lanarota Dk...Spearmint Color. Waiting for yarn to be delivered from Smiley's..have my fingers crossed that the color doesn't look like "poison green."

Special Plans:
Am planning a seedstitch border, side splits and creating a sweater that makes me look like I'm 21 and a size 10 instead of 71 and a 1X!!

Starting: As soon as yarn arrives

Joyce Besson

Alexandria, LA; USofA

Yarn: Bernat's Bermuda, 50/50 cotton/acrylic, gray in color. This is a yarn I found in my stash - I simply cannot buy any yarn 'til I reduce my monster.

Special Plans:
None, except to wear it! Haven't hand knitted a sweater in a very long time. I expect to have it finished by this time next year.

Starting: 5/23/04

Julie Hill

Gray, Tennessee

Yarn: Not sure yet

Special Plans:
Myself

Starting: 6/01

Julie Yeager

Stormville, NY

Yarn: Stash yarn - Lane Borgosesia 22 Giugno - a rayon sort of tubular ribbon in bright red.

Special Plans:
I had already started before Pat's great pattern came out. I am doing it sleeveless, from the top down, from Barbara Walker's book, and the whole thing is in seed stitch to try to keep the rayon from stretching too much. I actually chose the same cable as Pat did, but it is reversed since I'm working top down. I am just past the join for the body and sad to say I'm getting a little bored with all this seed stitch. I'm using Denise needles size 5 which I find work great with rayon. I took the measurements from a well fitting sleeveless top to get my sizing. Looking forward to seeing photos of many finished tees!

Starting: May 2004

Kate Fuller

Hanson, Kentucky; USA

Yarn: Plymouth Fantasy Naturale 100% cotton. Mercerized - worsted weight. Light sage green.

Starting: May 22, 2004

Kathie Zobell

Orem, UT

Yarn: Cotton Fleece from stash--either red or lt blue or lavender

Special Plans:
Seed stitch borders, perhaps a tad longer, may have long sleeves--depending on amt of yarn in color I decide on--this is a good project to have with me for 5 wks at my Mom's in July.

Starting: July

Kathy

Bandon OR

Yarn: Coned cotton

Special Plans:
This is my first sweater so finishing it the main plan!

Starting: June 1st

Kathy AfterBuffalo

Vancouver, WA 98682

Yarn: lion brands microspun

Special Plans:
It is for myself. I want to learn cables.

Starting: today (5/30/2006)

Kathy V

Myrtle Beach, SC

Yarn: I have mine already started, my first one as I am planning on making a few. This one I am using some very old stash yarn, Patons Carolina 62% acrylic, 29% cotton and 9% polyester. It is a pink/white nubby type yarn and is working up very pretty (I think). I started with the back so I could get used to the yarn and if there were any changes I wanted to make I would see it on the back first. I think it is a lovely pattern and can be elegant or every day type sweater depending upon the yarn type used. My 2nd one I am planning to use Berrocco Linet in a lavendery (new word) with rayon for a dressier look. Planning to wear these on my cruise in October...I wish to thank Pat and Shelda for this pattern and ALL the wonderful help, hints and ideas I get daily on the List.

Special Plans:
I plan on wearing the ones I make on my cruise in October.

Starting: Already have the back done up to the armhole.

Kerin Horton

Central PA

Yarn: Naturelle (a cotton/acrylic blend from Elann on cones). The color is called dark linen but it's really a light gray. I'm also considering another version with Lion Brand Magic Stripes in the red, white, blue, tan combo.

Special Plans:
I'm doing the basic pattern for the first one. I've swatched with the Magic stripes yarn and think I'll try to do that one in the round, knitting from two skeins at the same time to mix it up a bit.

Starting: I started in April

Kim Callan

Philadelphia, PA area

Yarn: Still deciding.

Starting: June 3, after class is over

Laurie Evans

Chapel Hill, N.C.

Yarn: Plymouth Stone Cotton in a soft green

Special Plans:
I plan to make seed stitch borders with side vents. Trying to decide between 2X and 3X - might start with bigger one and get smaller up top. I'm also interested in doing short rows for the bust (Pat, you said you might include instructions if enough of us are interested in short rows?) - otherwise I will study the Shapely Tee directions for that detail.

Starting: I have swatched & am ready to go.

Lea Vollmer

Evansville, IN - USA

Yarn: Berroco Softwist

Special Plans:
I am going to try and size it down as the smallest size in the pattern is a little too big for me!

Starting: ASAP

Linda Walton

Whyalla, South Australia

Yarn: About to start swatching with Zhivago by Patons (Aust), which is a tencel and acrylic blend

Special Plans:
Add 2 or 3 inches in length and have side splits. Going to start using 3X at the hip and decrease to 2X before the bust. Considering having short rows just above the bottom band to give shaping that will cover big tummy and bum. And make the bottom look straight.

Starting: As soon as I've swatched and the wool arrives.

Lisa

Minneapolis, MN

Yarn: Rowan Summer Tweed--I've had some in my stash for a long time!

Special Plans:
I've been looking for the right pattern for summer tweed, and I would love to have a nice summer sweater.

Starting: in a week or so

Flowood MS

Yarn: a cotton blend - I am still looking

Special Plans:
not really

Starting: in the next couple of weeks

Liz Hanson

Bracknell, UK

Yarn: Sirdar Breeze (Cotton mix) in cream.

Special Plans:
Possibly longer sleeves, but 3/4 not full length.

Starting: early June

Lynda Carraher

Umatilla, Oregon

Yarn: Stash yarn - Planned to use "Texas" -- a denim-tweedy cotton, but have now decided the yarn needs to be pre-shrunk before knitting. So I dug deeper in the stash and dragged out some Lion Brand Micro-Spun in "Lavendar" -- which looks pale blue to me. Worked at 5 1/2 st/inch on #4 needles (!), this yarn has an amazing stitch definition.

Special Plans:
Will do the 6 st cable with a purl stitch in the center, and will knit it in the round with faux side seams. I have already finished the garter band and started the first body row. Sleeve bands will also be garter. I'm playing with the idea of adding a single garter stitch edging to the neckline cable after I split it. But that's a long ways away!

Starting: 5/23/04.

Lynn

Pittsburgh, PA

Yarn: Rowan Calmer Color 478 (joy)

Special Plans:
A gift to me!

Starting: 5/28/04

Maggie Pringlemeir

Novi, MI USA

Yarn: Looked at lots .. so far, the Bernat "Soft Boucle" is yelling at me in the dark blue colorway. It looks like a deep rich navy but it's really a lot of various blues tweeded together.

Special Plans:
YUP. Wear with jeans and wear with a turtleneck iin the winter. Thinking seriously about making a second one .. and splitting the front right up the middle to make a little lightweight jacket for summer. (Don't laugh .. some restaurants and stores keep the A/C turned to FREEZE and then my shoulders hurt!)

Starting: June 5 - 6 - 7

Margaret H Velard

New York City

Yarn: Cascade Sierra, colorway #10

Special Plans:nope

Starting: as soon as the yarn gets here!

Murphysboro, IL U.S.

Yarn: Elann's Sonata (100% cotton - 50g/131yds-5.5 sts/inch). Since I have enough of this yarn in 3 different colors, I'm not sure which color I'll use.

Special Plans:

Starting: This week (June 1st today)

Nancy A

Arkansas

Yarn: Have to try it with Red Heart Cotton Twist. 51% cotton/49% acrylic. Such a good price, and it really feels nice to me.

Special Plans:
Have done seed stitch on the bottom and up the side edges, tapering off number of stitches as it goes up. Now have about 10 inches done on the front. Has been fun and easy so far. (Of course, the fit through the bust and esp. the neck/shoulder area is my main concern.) I feel like I have really accomplished something, actually getting started with a KAL so early!

Starting: started in May 04

nancy dirocco

easthampton ma

Yarn: From vintage stash, the bands and cable panel will be in a peach Robin Diamante DK and stockinette will be in Sirdar Sunseeker Cotton Contrast in a mix of burnt orange, peach, hint of rose and white/off white

Special Plans:
Because this is a stash buster, as mentioned above the bands and cable will be in a pale peach and the rest in a multi yarn

Starting: 05/22 - just cast on

Nancy Griffin

Holland, Michigan

Yarn: Tahki Cotton Classic is a 100% mercerized cotton yarn in a light porcelain blue; I am stash-busting! I got this yarn from Elann last year. I did swatch this yarn, and there was some shrinkage both lengthwise and widthwise - 1/4" out of 5" which is 5%. I am using the twisted rib and 8 stitch cable.

Special Plans:
I translated the instructions to be able to knit in the round. My swatch did show some irregularities on the back side from knitting one row, and purling one row, and this eliminates that (no purl stitches). Another consequence of knitting in the round is that the knitting seems to take longer to get any length, because of both sides being knitting at the same time but I am being patient! I have 2" of ribbing done and 3" of the body, and it looks really great.

Starting: June 1, 2004

Special Plans:
to finish it and wear it . . . and hopefully it will fit!

Starting: A few weeks

Ruthann Piepenburg

Arlington, Virginia

Yarn: Conshohocken Softball cotton in color "Rosebud" from my stash. This stuff must be about 15 years old. I just knew the right project would come along. I saw the warnings about pure cotton that knits at 4 1/2 sts/in. But this yarn is BEGGING to be made into this sweater!

Special Plans:
Not so much for the sweater. I am using the excuse of the sweater to master a new kind of purl and knit stitch. I'm a left hand (continental) yarn carrier. I've never been happy with my purl stitch so I've avoided it. Thanks to Mary Walker Phillips (Creative Knitting) I've discovered the "easy" purl for us left-hand carriers. The bad part is that I have to change the way I do my knit stitch to avoid twisted stitches. I am ecstatic to discover that using the new method my knit and purl stitches are the same size.

Starting: Probably by June 1. As soon as I finish the swatch.

Ruth Sard

adelaide, south australia, australia

Special Plans:
Nope, just wear it!

Starting: Middle of June

Shelda Eggers

Columbia MO

Yarn: Cascade "Sierra" in aqua. It's 80% pima cotton, 20% wool in a worsted weight.

Special Plans:
I think I'm going to do long sleeves, seed stitch edgings, and side slits at the hips. I really like how Pat continued the cable around the back of the neck, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that goes together.

Starting: Sometime this summer, with any luck!

Shiny

Hallandale Beach, FL

Special Plans:

Special Plans:
I have a number of small projects I have managed to keep for myself, but I would like to make something special for ME and this sweater is it...

Starting: May, 31st/2004

Special Plans:

Starting: When the yarn I ordered arrives.
