Carol with designer Lorna MiserCarol wearing her version of Lorna Miser's Easy Pie Wedge Shawl, with the shawl's designer, Lorna Miser, photographed at Midwest Masters Spring 2001. Lorna is the owner and creative force behind Lorna's Laces yarns. The Easy Pie Wedge Shawl is done with one skein of Lorna's Helen's Lace yarn, and the pattern is on the inside of the ball band. Yarns by Design in Neenah, Wisconsin is host to the Midwest Masters events, and a Lorna's Laces stockist. Carol writes, It's done with one skein of Helen's Lace and I had a lot left over....probably enough for a scarf. Mine is in the Watercolor colorway and it is achieved by doing short rows and has a small yarnover detail on the edge.....a wonderful shawl for lace beginners. It's worked on size 9 needles and is a fast, instant gratification garment. |

Carol's Jellybean Chevron SweaterAnswering many of us who wonder how on earth she gets so many sweaters done, Carol says, Yep - I ride and knit while DH drives back and forth, back and forth to Wisconsin! Here is another picture of a sweater I finished in time for Mother's Day. A Trendsetter/Laura Bryant design (Prism #537, Light Stuff Chevron Pullover, also available in Prism Book #21). Made with 1-300 yd skein of Prism Light Stuff, yellow Trendsetter's Sunshine, and a coral and lime slubby cotton. I used size 7 needles. The pattern calls for size 6, but I wanted a little more drape. It's a cool, summer T-top and fun to do. Changing colors every 3-5 rows made it interesting and speedy knitting. To enlarge the body, I cast on 2 of extra stitches at the side seams and then just bound off those extra stitches along with the other underarm stitches.....that way the shoulders stayed a size smaller for my measurements. The color of the Light Stuff is Jellybean. I think I only bought this colorway because I truly love jellybeans! See a second version of this sweater in Carols Gallery #6. |
Carols Bandola SweaterThis t-top is a summery cotton ribbon called Bandolo. Its a kit from The Knitting Basket and incorporates modular L shapes, rectangles, and squares. These kinds of designs are very easy to enlarge. I added the slits on the side for a more casual look. Done on size 8s and I wove in the ends as I knitted along to save work at the end. |

The Drifting Dreams JacketThe Drifting Dreams Jacket is by Jill Vosburg of Just One More Row. Mine is a finished size 52 done exactly to the pattern. Very good directions, fast and fun to do. I used Fancy Plumes from YarnXpress in the color Lorikeet. |
The Seville JacketThis is my Seville Jacket from an Oat Couture pattern with three-quarter length sleeves. I used Memphis from Skacel and Berocco Glace ribbon trim. I did the largest size on a size 8 rather than a 7. The sweater finished to 52. |
