Charlotte Woodward's “MTAS”

Charlotte did her “More Than a Sweatshirt” with the Ample-Knitters knit-along group. You can see more about the project and view other participant's sweaters on the group project page.

Charlotte says, “This is the first sweater I have knit for myself that I'm really happy with.”

Hurray!

Here are the details on Charlotte's sweater:

I used K1C2 Parfait Solid in Snow and Douceur Swirls in Razzleberries (blues and berries). I followed the pattern for the 54” size using size 10 needles.

When it came time to pick up the stitches for the sleeve, I picked up an extra stitch at the end of the raglan shaping and knit to together on the first knit round so there would be no hole at the join.

I finished the bottom of the body as recommended, but with size 9 needles. This has made a ribbing that doesn't pull in.

I found that when I was done with all of the decreasing on the sleeve, I didn't need to knit any more for length, so I did the last evenly spaced decrease row, then switched to size 7 needles for the ribbing. This has made the cuff of the sleeve fit nicely on my wrist and allows the sleeve to “balloon” a little on my arm without riding halfway down my hand.

I tried it on after I finished the first sleeve, and I love the tweedy effect the swirls give the white. This will be a sweater I'll wear a lot and make again!
