Starting: asap

Jan Heiss

Daleville, Indiana, USA

Gauge: Bulky

Yarn(s): 100% Peruvian Wool in Alpine Violet

Special Plans:
Have already started & am doing the patterned ribbing at the bottom first & on the same size needles as the body as I don't like the bottom of my sweaters tightening in. Thought about some short rows for the bust, but I don't think it's going to need them. With this pattern the bulky yarn doesn't knit up looking particularly "bulky." I would however I would be interested in trying it again in a worsted or DK weight as I'm a bit disappointed in the way the pattern stitch is knitting up & I think it would look a lot better using more stitches to make up the pattern.

Starting: I've already knitted up to the sleeve separation & have about half of the back patterned area done.

kim myers

Maryville, TN USA

Gauge: DK

Yarn(s): Don't know yet. Just started knitting and have completed a couple of hats and a sweater for my youngest child, so I know very little about knitting.

Starting: ASAP (submitted June, 2005)

Leslie Mitnick

Quakertown, Bucks County, PA

Gauge: Bulky

Yarn(s): "Merino Light" made by schoeller esslinger in a terra cotta color.

Special Plans:
As always, I will shorten the sweater in the torso -- I'm short and round!

Starting: already did -- 1/01/05

Lois Blumsack

San Leandro, California

Gauge: Worsted

Yarn(s): Sirdar's Denim Sport Aran was recommended by the knit shop up the street as a good summer weight yarn for this sweater. Has some wool for stability. On my swatch, the pattern shows beautifully. Often order yarn over the net, but this sweater seemed best knitted with the comfort of being able to go to my shop for advise, plus wouldn't want all that internet buying to put these wonderful local shops out of business.

Special Plans:
Probably shorten by a few inches--I like sweaters that fall just to the top of the hip line. Also, I'm going to try doing the ribbing first instead on dealing with a provisional cast on, which I've never done.

Must finish current project--a Chanel style jacket in bulky chenille, before I start this one.

Starting: February, 05

Lorna Hanrahan

Colfax, WA ,USA

Gauge: Sport

Yarn(s): Inca Wool in Burnt Orange purchased from Webs Garage Sale.

I am thinking of making it a V-neck instead of following the pattern.

Starting: I started the end of February

Lynn

Lansing, MI

Gauge: Worsted

Yarn(s): Right now I'm planning on some lovely worsted yarn from Elann - will update when I actually order.

Starting: Plan to order the yarn by January 17

Margot Manassa

Milwaukee Wi.

Gauge: Bulky

Yarn(s): Basic outerwear wool. I bought it from a local apple orchard two years ago.

Special Plans:
Because I bought yarn for a multi colored sweater, I will have to add color to the basic design. I plan to still use purl for the raised pattern.

Starting: 4/11/05

Marianne Kuokkanen

Pargas, Finland

Gauge: Bulky

Yarn(s): A Shetland type chunky yarn bought from eBay. I have 700 grams of it, no idea of yardage. Seems to be very lightweight.

Special Plans:
The gauge is nearly the same as in the original pattern, on 5 mm needles, US 8. I'm making it 47 in and a bit shorter. My back is 2 in shorter than "normal". I have long legs instead.

I'm also making the armhole opening 2 cm, 4/5 in smaller.

Starting: I started Jan 12th.

Marilyn

northern NY; USA

Gauge: Worsted

Special Plans:
Not at this time, maybe when I actually start project.

Marty

Lawton, OK

Gauge: Bulky

Yarn(s): Chunky blue that I bought online. It's packed for the move, so I'll update the info when I get home and unpacked

Special Plans:
Nope. First cardigan I've tried to do. Should be interesting.

Starting: When we get settled in Lawton

Mary Beth Crawford

Riverside, CA USA

Gauge: Bulky

Yarn(s): Elann Peruvian 100% wool

Special Plans:
Couldn't get stitch gauge, have ended up on 10.5 needle, which does achieve the proper row gauge. Am knitting to the XXL stitch count to achieve (hopefully!) a finished size between the L and XL.

Starting: Did - 1/1/05

Nancilyn Kroushl

La Grange, KY

Gauge: Worsted

Yarn(s): 100% wool heather

Starting: 2/3/05

Nancy A

Arkansas

Gauge: Worsted

Yarn(s): Have had this pattern copied and waiting for a long time. So glad there is a KAL on it! I have some bulky Lamb's Pride in a nice milk chocolatey color I had been thinking about. Then I got to thinking about its bulk & mine. That's probably why I haven't been real sure about making it. But using worsted sounds better to me, and I have some Thick and Thin Heather home-spun worsted by Brown Sheep (Winter Sky blue color).

Special Plans:
I haven't quite finished my Cable Tee yet. Not sure whether to make myself finish it first or not....whine..

Have copied the 52 inch size. I am bad about getting things too large, but I think this will be about right as long as I get proper gauge. Tonight I have been enlarging the tiny little charts and getting excited about a fun new project! I hope everyone has a good time with this.

Starting: Probably in Feb.

Nancy Penney

Hallandale Beach, Fl (for winter)

Gauge: Worsted

Yarn(s): At the moment I plan to use Andean Silk from Knitpicks. It is ordered but hasn't arrived. After making a swatch, I will decide for certain.

Starting: end of January

NIna Elsohn

Pacifica, CA

Gauge: DK

Yarn(s): Either Debbie Bliss's Cashmerino aran (5 sts/in.), if I can get the pattern to show up in the black I have; or Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool (5.5 sts/in) in a dark green tweedy color.

Special Plans:
I will use a larger needle around the bottom to make it slightly A-line to fit my bottom heavy shape better.

Starting: when the new gauge patterns are availalbe!

Renee Samuelson

Apple Valley, MN

Gauge: Bulky

Yarn(s): I am using Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky. I did not get gauge with this yarn, it is not quite the yarn called for in the pattern, despite being from the same company with the same designated "weight."

Special Plans:
I have had to modify because of my gauge difference, but so far it's okay. I did not do the provisional cast-on because I couldn't find any instructions on how to do it, and I was impatient. But I figured I could pick up stitches from the bottom, and if there is a purl bump line, I won't mind.

Starting: Started in December

Shannon Hicks

New Orleans, LA

Yarn(s): undecided, I am shopping now

Special Plans:
No, just hope to have it done before next winter. All you need in New Orleans is one good sweater. This one looks like IT!

Starting: 3/10/05

stephanie mesler-evans

Columbus, OH, USA

Gauge: Worsted

Yarn(s): Caron rainbow dreams, Jet Stream

Starting: As soon as the pattern is posted for worsted. I already have the yarn and, most likely, the needles.

Susan Beard

Arlington, VA; USA

Gauge: Worsted

Yarn(s): I haven't decided yet. Probably will do a worsted weight.

Special Plans:
Although I haven't looked at all of the measurements, in the photo the sweater appears to be longer than I like. I plan to shorten to high hip. I am working one project at a time - started a sweater for DD on 1/8. I think that I am 1/3 done. At this rate I will be able to buy yarn on 1/20.

Starting: January 2005
