Jennifer Nugents FollyFolly is a great design from Jillian Moreno, and can be found in the Winter 2003 issue of knitty. The Ample-Knitters had a knit-along to do this cardigan, but we've not seen other finished sweaters yet! More information on the group project can be found on the Folly project page . Jillian added some additional sizes (up to a 67" finished bust measurement!) after hearing that our group was interested in a KAL. Jennifer knit her sweater from Peruvian Highland Wool, available from Elann. Back on April 3rd, 2005, Jennifer posted to the list, I feel like I've been running a marathon. I've been knitting one, and it's been an emotional journey as well, since I've spent so much time working on this sweater, and it's seen me through quite a lot! Now, just as spring/summer weather hits Kansas City, I have a sweater that can stand up to some of our coldest days here. I took pictures today (in the heat!) & am just so happy to say I finished this sweater, it fits, and it's sassy as hell. I spent time googling a few months ago for pictures or other people's progress notes - and to no avail. So I may not be the first to finish it, but I'm trumpeting it from the internet rooftops. *grin* |

More from Jennifer (taken from her blog, 4/3/2005 entry): Retrospective notes about this sweater? I made it a little big, thinking I'd wear it more like a coat. I would have made the sleeves a little shorter, remembered to put in bust darts, and I would have experimented with the collar — perhaps instead of the shawl collar, a polo-esque collar that would have fallen a bit lower & spread out more across the sweater, but that's just me thinkin' after the fact. Not that it's too late to re-do that part, if I decide to — but right now I'm content to be DONE. |

Overall, it's going to be a warm, cozy sweater that fits, has unmatched style, and is a major knitting accomplishment for me. A friend from the guild looked at my sweater & immediately said she'd never wear all those flowers around her neck, and of course I replied, 'Good thing I didn't make this for you, then!' I've never lacked chutzpah, despite not being Jewish - and it's probably why I wanted to make this sweater in the first place. | ||
