Jane Wood's Triangle Tango SweatersJane had the opportunity to attend a workshop with Colleen Davis, the designer of the Triangle Tango sweaters, with her guild in Riverside, California. She writes, We all had a great time, and learned a fun, new technique. Colleen's use of color is unique and knows no bounds. Her ideas are invigorating and definately fall 'outside the box'. She is an inspiration to us all. And the best part: The patterns are relatively simple, and work up very quickly. When the Ample-Knitters started a Triangle Tango knitalong, Jane made these sweaters for her granddaughters.
To accomodate her granddaughter's height, Jane added an extra triangle on the left. She also made a similar piece on the back side. To balance the extra triangle added, Jane made corkscrews in various lengths and attached them to the piece opposite the fuzzy triangles. This blue sweater was made with WalMart/ JoAnn Fabric yarns. Primarily Fun Fur, Homespun, Wool-ease, Red Heart, etc.
The pink sweater was made primarily from Jo Sharp and Noro Kureyon yarns. Jane says that you can see in the pictures that she got braver with color placement. She writes, I deliberately manipulated the colors as in the left triangle with the 'Cheshire Cat' stripes. The fuzzy yarn on the sleeves is Crystal Palace Fizz run along with Pingouin Cotton Mousse. Jane adds, On both of the sweaters I used several variations of basketweave texture to help breakup the color and the stockinette stitch. Again, I used corkscrew fringe on the botton to give it a little more length. These were fun and fast to make. Thanks for letting me share. |
