Nan Crowleys Cable TeeI've finished the Cable T! If a project takes more than a week, I tend to lose steam, so I usually knit like a fiend on something, to beat that UFO clock ticking away inside. And I finished! I used the 6 x 6 cable w/ center purl stitch, and the twisted rib for the bottom edge (twist on every right side row). The yarn is Crystal Palace's Shimmer (86% rayon and 14% nylon), knit at 4.5-5 st per inch on a size 10 needle. The label claims 3-3.5 per inch (awful). VERY glad I swatched! I tried to maintain the 4.5 st, but found myself drifting into 5 stitches to the inch at times. |

I did kinda "tweak" the pattern a bit, adjusting the size and making the sleeves 3/4 length. I used a software program to do "the numbers" for me after double checking those numbers against the official Cable T pattern. My biggest fitting problem is that my hips are one size, midsection a size smaller, and bust a size smaller yet. I probably should have allowed for more ease, but it seems ok. The numbers are close-ish, but not the same, size for size. Part of the problem is that the program lets you choose the ease - from skin tight (I don't think so!) to "moderate," "comfy" - which is what I used - all the way to "oversize." I keep thinking it runs a bit large, but the numbers weren't far off from "our" pattern on the website. (thank you Pat!) AT any rate, it was really fun to find that I can adjust the knitting as I go, and still have something turn out halfway decent, y'know? I love the pattern, as does anyone who sees it. The Cable Tee is a group project of the Ample-Knitters list. | |
