Carol Jane Hurt (aka Well)

St. Louis, MO USA

Yarn(s): I have some beautiful dark teal, hand dyed, that I purchased from Cheryl Oberle at Stitches MW 2 years ago. I had some Trendsetter Dune #61 that constrasts beautifully with the teal. IN FACT, Lucy Neatby herself helped go thru my stash and find the glitzy (bling bling) that went perfectly with the teal wool.

Special Plans:
I will probably add 1 extra triangle to each side. Lucy showed me how to make fantastic tassels and I'll pass that on to all of you when we're closer to finishing.

Starting: Already did! 12/31/04

Carol sent a photo of her shawl in progress, and writes:
“The measurement at the needle (from neck to bottom) is 21” and I'm getting ready for Triangle #9. I'm also getting ready to switch to circulars.”

Carol's Radiant Shawl in-progress

Carol has now finished her shawl! Photos are featured on Lucy Neatby's website.

Deb Myers

Ramsey. MN USA

Yarn(s): Probably a DK 100% Alpaca yarn.

Special Plans:
I will order the pattern. Then I will enter the hospital and have knee replacement surgery. At little rehab and I WILL come home to peace and solitude once more and start the knitting on the shawl. I love Lucy Neatby's patterns and I already have the Farose Flower Shawl pattern.

Starting: That should be by Jan 26th.

Dorothy Jean Anderson

Salem, OR

Yarn(s): Main yarn--I am struggling to decide between Misti Baby Alpaca Lace (formerly Perlita) in burgundy, 5018, with 3 strands held together or Berroco Softwist in a beautiful burgundy, 7478. The Misti Alpaca is knitting up so small that I am needing to use 10.5 needles. I wonder if this will make a fabric that is too "holey," or if this would be preferable for the shawl anyway. I am swatching yet again with both and making my decision.

The contrast yarn is GGH Fee Color, 106. Gorgeous!! (100% Man-made fiber) -- in burgundy, olive w/ gold sparkle.

Special Plans:
Both of the yarns are incredibly soft, and the alpaca will be warm. I want some sparkle, but want it to be an everyday work item, too. This is my first knit along.

Starting: January 2, 2005

Gayle Lagor

Homewood, Illinois USA

Yarn(s): I think I will be using some Filatura di Crosa 501.

Special Plans:
I may make it one solid color.

Starting: Now (1/15/2005).

Nancy Stewart

Georgetown, Delaware

Yarn(s): Peruvian Highland Wool in Violet Heather. Accent yarn is Trendsetters Dune in #93 Scottish Meadows.

Starting: By 1/23/05

September the Chicken..... bock bock bock

San Jose, California

Yarn(s): I'm not sure. I thought I was going to use this amazing Fiesta Yarn, called La Boheme, in Quince, but I only have 330 yards of it, so I guess I'll go shopping tomorrow for something else, and save this for something else!

Special Plans:
Surviving and finishing would be a good plan! :-D I can do it, I can do it, I can do it!

Starting: as soon as I get yarn!

Sharon Olson

Eagan, MN

Yarn(s): Twisted Sisters "Jazz" in raspberry and Trendsetter "Dune" in color #94, Magenta Moon. Yumm! After a few false starts with yarns already in my stash, I got this combination and am having a wonderful time.

Special Plans:
Nope - just enjoying a fun pattern with fun yarns!

Starting: About half-way through first side.
