An email distribution list brings together an internet community to discuss an issue of common interest to its members. The Ample-Knitters list addresses the particular needs of knitters who wear a larger than “normal” size.

You “subscribe” to the list, just as you would to a magazine or newsletter, but your subscription is interactive, which means you can also send your own messages to the list. A software package called majordomo handles the distribution of all mail to the subscriber list. All of this sending and distributing is done via email, if that wasn't already clear. There is no print version of the list, so you must have an email account to subscribe.

There are two ways to receive the list, or two different types of subscriptions. You can receive each message individually as it comes in, or you can get a compilation of messages called a “digest.” Digests are produced one to two times per day, depending on the volume of mail on the list. You will receive all of the same messages regardless of the version you choose. The way you choose to receive the list is purely a matter of personal preference.
Subscriptions to Ample-Knitters are free!
