Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: I'm not sure yet, i am waiting for some yarn that I ordered on line and should be here in the next day or two

Starting: by the weekend

Progress Report (4/9/02):
Almost done with the 3 to 2 sweater and it is looking great. Doing the final decreases for the front and then will have to decide about the sleeves and bottom edge.

Adrienne's Sweater is Finished (5/5/02):
My flap didn't turn out quite like the picture of the pattern, but I love the way it fits and will use the pattern again and again, but with just a v-neck.

Yarn: Ilse-Wolle Flamenco (cotton/acrylic) in Sage Green/White.

Starting: Now (January 15th)

Alice Dodd

Springfield, MO

Sweater: Lacy Starfish Shawl

Yarn: Trendsetter Solaris Cotton

Special Plans:
I started this last summer to match the Shapely Tee. I want to finish in time to wear them together this year. The colors are blue, aqua, yellow & pink and look really summery.

Starting: Last year :)

Amy Greenan

Alden (Buffalo), NY, USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Columbia & Minerva's Nantuk in Charcoal Grey. It's 100% Acrylic, but is sooooo soft and has a lovely drape.

Special Plans:
I'm hoping this will become a replacement for the last all-purpose, comfy sweater I made -- 15 years ago! It's become so ratty. ;)

Starting: already started!

Ann Sokolowski

NYC

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: stash

Starting: soon as I get pattern

Anne N. Stoddard

East Northport, Long Island, New York, USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Lana Gatto's variegated, named “Florida.” It is an intriguing yarn encased in a type of mesh ribbon. The colors vary from deep purple to lavender to blues to greens to just a touch of soft yellow.

Special Plans:
I am not going to use a button on the neck flap, instead I plan to use a pin left to me by my mother that she had since the 30's.

Starting: started Jan 15, 2002

Arleen Wetmore

Upper Lake

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Francoise---Chunky by Argyll.

Starting: Jan 20th

Arnetta Kenney aka Knita

Pocono, Pennsylvania

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: I will be using a Trendsetter yarn called “DUNE.” It's a mohair and viscose yarn. So I plan to make a vest out of this sweater to wear in the fall.

Special Plans:
My special plan is that I have to be really far ahead as far as the seasons go. My busy busy work schedule dictates it. “I wanna have some knitting fun,” so I'm looking forward to joining the group.

Starting: Feb 16

Barbara

Virginia

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Heritage cotton/rayon, “Black and Gray in a Rainbow World”

Special Plans:
Will decide about sleeve length when I see how much yarn is left for them. I am thinking about 3/4 sleeves.

Starting: January 26th

Barbara Grant

Marshfield, MA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Great Adirondack Company silk/cotton, varigated in about a sport weight. I haven't bought it yet, but will soon. It's been whispering to me at my LYS.

Starting: 3rd week of Jan, I think

Barbara Reed

France

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Wool

Special Plans:
Long sleeves, and I will be doing stripes on the body

Here's a photo Barbara sent of her smashing sweater!

Barbara's 3-to-2 Sweater

To see more, here's another view of Barbara's sweater, a sleeve detail, and a closer detail of the cuffs Barbara added. She writes, “I did long sleeves to keep my paws warm, with a little slit for the thumb. No sewing anywhere, ran a line of crochet up the sides and picked up stitches from this to do the sleeves.”

Starting: Now

Betsey (on the Coast of Maine)

Brunswick, Maine

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Cotton Fleece Fine from Brown Sheep

Special Plans:
I've had 3 full cones of white in my stash for ages & got inspired to “splash dye” it! It's in mauve-blueberry-purples & a bit of apricot, but then had to “mature” a bit. When I rejoined AK a while ago, I saw the 3-to-2 Any Gauge & knew I'd found my pattern! Trugging along on #2 needle but VERY happy with the results so far... wonderfully drapey & just feels good!

Starting: Started early Feb.

Beverly Heitke

Stoughton, WI USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Berroco Glace

Starting: 02/01/02

Camille Wieder

Quakertown, PA

Sweater: Crystal Palace Chenille/Waikiki Pullover.

Yarn: Blue/Gray chenille on a cone (bought through ebay), supposed to be around 1400 ypp (1/8” thick).

Special Plans:
The chenille has to be unkinked (de-kinked??) which is a pain, but I just love how it feels and looks in my swatch! I'll be using #4 needles to get it tight to avoid the pitfalls of chenille. I thought this particular pattern would be easy to alter and it has garter stitch “cuffs” and neckline.

Starting: 1/18/02

Carol Hurt

Fenton (St Louis) MO, USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Trendsetter “Fizz” in the colorway celery. Its gauge is 4.5 sts/inch on a size 8 needle. I'm making a finished size 53” with a length of 24”. I'm fairly sure at this point that I will use only about 1200 yards.

Special Plans:

I plan to crochet a shell stitch at the hem and edge of the sleeves rather than have ribbing. I just picked out a beautiful button from Renaissance Buttons. It's the one in the lower left hand that is an Italian Enamel with lily of the valley.

Carol has finished her sweater!

Carol's 3-to-2 Sweater

Neck detail:

Carol's 3-to-2 Sweater

Starting: 1/13/2002

Carol Watson

Yoncalla, Oregon USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Wool-ease worsted weight autumnprint. Then one in countryprint for my daughter-in-law.

Her's will be a size 40 & mine a 52.

Starting: Tue the 15th of Jan

Carole A. Miller

Doylestown, OH - USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: 100% cotton handpainted yarn from Jackie.

Special Plans:
I plan to make the short sleeve version.

Starting: when yarn arrives

Catherine Bateson

Kyneton, Australia

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: hand-dyed Jaeger mohair - originally a rather lovely silvery grey that doesn't really suit me. I am skeining now and will dye tomorrow in a mix of colours.

Special Plans:
I just want to finish it!

Starting: Probably Sunday - 10/03 - I know that's late but I've had other projects on the go

Catherine S. Firmin

Lake Charles, LA USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: unknown at this time, will get pattern first, or more info from Jackie, just would like to do a project together with others, to have others to help guide through problems/mistakes, and especially fitting.

Special Plans:
As we grow older, we usually slowly gain weight, and gravity seems to be pulling mine to my hips especially. However, I am also a large-busted woman, and have trouble with patterns fitting on top, but not at the hips. I am still a newbie to knitting, knitting samples and dishcloths, to learn the stitches and such. My friend feels that I am ready to try a sweater, as long as it is the right pattern. Knowing Jackie, and seeing your choice, I think it might be the right one. I may need some guidance from all of you and Jackie too, on how to fit the top and the bottom properly. I look forward to beginning the first of many sweaters.

Starting: 2 - 3 wks, need pattern and yarn

Cathy Christovich

Springfield, VA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Trendsetter Yarns' “Solaris” Egyptian cotton

Miami, Florida; USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: cotton yarn, probably Tahki Cotton Classic or Shaeffer's Laurel.

Special Plans:
i will get the pattern at the next guild meeting at the end of January, and then decide on the yarn etc. probably will use a varigated cotton.

Starting: February 1, 2002

Cheryl

Raleigh, NC

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: I will be using Noro Iroha, variegated browns and creams.

Starting: 1/18/2002

Cheryl Anderson

Raleigh, North Carolina

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: stash Cotton Flake- multicolored and nubby.

Starting: as soon as my pattern arrives. this should be any day Jackie E-S has sent my receipt that it was mailed.

Cheryl Miller

Corona, CA USA

Sweater: Angel Island Shell, a Jill Vosburg pattern

Yarn: a Chenille bought on clearance and a novelty yarn, both in rayon.

Special Plans:
This was knit from the middle out. I figured out how many stitches to cast on and just worked from there in reverse of what the pattern called for. When I got large enough I added extra side rows under the arm to allow give for my hips. I decided to add sleeves so I picked up stitches along the top of the arm hole knit a row added a few more stitches...etc. until I had the whole arm hole filled. Sleeves were then worked in the round. It went fast, about 2 weeks

And here's a photo of Cheryl's finished sweater! Nice going, Cheryl!

Cheryl's Angel Island Shell

Starting: 1-29-02

Cheryl Renwick

Sacramento, CA

Sweater: Paton's Eiffel Tower short sleeve pullover

Yarn: Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton in rose.

Special Plans:
Finally making something for me.

Starting: 1/18

Chris Hitchcock

Burnaby, BC, Canada (nr. Vancouver)

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Initially, Red Heart Comfort Acrylic in a variegated pattern.

Special Plans:
I've finished the back and front, but need to add some gussets (I underguestimated the size). I knit this in a tunic length, and my bottom needs more ease to look ok. I'm thinking of making a full-needle ribbed panel on my bulky knitting machine, then splitting into two to make a side-slit placket for the bottom of the tunic. I've swatched a bit by hand, and it seems like that will hang reasonably without curling.

Starting: March 2002

Chris Ignasiak

Avon, Ohio (near Cleveland)

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: I'll be using black and white cotton cone yarn I bought on ebay.

Starting: February 1st

Claire Sims

Sacramento, CA, USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: I think Berrocco Glace or Waikiki.

Special Plans:
I may change to modified drop sleeve as opposed to regular drop sleeve.

Starting: as soon as I finish my friend's birthday present.

Darilyn

Kihei, Maui, Hawaii, USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: I was given a cone of ancient-but-beautiful combed “Softball” cotton in pearl grey two years ago by a dear friend. I promised her I'd use it, but I had no idea how. I swatched and it made the most luscious, soft, and silky material on size 3 needles. I would never have picked this color or this yarn for the 3-to-2 Sweater, but I'm going to try it and see what happens!

Link: Darilyn's swatch, button, details, and knitting diary. And here's a preview:

Darilyn's swatch

Progress Report: My 3-to-2 is finished. I had so much fun playing with the edging and neckline. I laughed while I worked on it because I ripped, ripped, and ripped some more...and had the best time. Jackie's pattern was perfect as written, but I never can help myself. I love to experiment and play with things.

Darilyn's finished sweater

Starting: 1/15/2002

Sweater #2: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: A thick and thin 100% cotton on a cone.

Special Plans:
My first 3-to-2 was so much fun that I'm starting another one. I'm planning to do some kind of a boat neck on this one. I'm using size 7 needles to show off the thick and thin texture, and make a more open fabric than the first sweater. I've already worn the first sweater several times...it is so light and comfortable. :)

Here's the triangle for Darilyn's Second Sweater:
Swatch for Darilyn's Second Sweater

And the finished sweater:

Darilyn has considerably more detail about both her sweaters on her own site. Scroll down to “My Knitted and Crocheted Finished Objects” to the “3-to-2” sweaters. Darilyn includes more photos, her knitting diary, and some notes on how she did the neat neckline treatment on her V-neck sweater.

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Gene Byrge

Salt Lake City Utah

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Jackie's Heritage hand-painted cotton/rayon in “Traces of Natchez Trace” colorway

Special Plans:
I'm 3/4 way done with the back, knitting it bits and pieces of time waiting for a doctor's appointment, or for my car to get fixed, or a row or two just before bedtime. My only real plan is to get it done before winter! :-)

Starting: Started first of March

Glenna Stansifer

Independence, CA, USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Various yarns from my stash, including, but not limited to: Crystal Palace Romance, Noro Silk Garden, kid mohair laceweight, several balls of various glitz/eyelash/slub yarns, etc. My colors are in the blues, lavenders, fuschias, and some greens. These yarns are pulled off by armlengths and randomly tied together to make a “magic ball” that I knit from.

Special Plans:
I am not following the pattern exactly, but am increasing only one stitch on each row to make a square instead of a rectangle. And instead of using straight stockinette st, I'm doing a k 3 rows, p 1 row pattern.

Glenna got herself into a little trouble with this plan. As she writes, “[This photo] is of the two little samples I made to prove to myself that Jackie was right about her own pattern (sorry, Jackie, for doubting you!) The beige or mushroom sample on the left was made by increasing one st on each row. As can be seen, it is indeed a rhombus. The red sample on the right was made the correct way, following the 3-2 directions. Much more square, and I'll never doubt a designer again (well, maybe only a little! ;-)”

Glenna's Swatch Experiments

After she got those details worked out, Glenna produced an exciting, glitzy sweater! As she writes, “I have a *very* glitzy stash, as you can see. This garment will be no shy violet. This [project] is an outgrowth of a class I took at Stitches West on using your stash for a vest, so I'm using the yarns I took to that class (plus several others), put together in Magic Balls to get the random striping you see.”

Below are photos of her completed sweater and two details

Glenna's 3-to-2 Glitz Sweater

And here is Glenna in her Oh So Glitzy Sweater (separate window will pop up)

Starting: Late! 3/15/02

Jamie Monaghan

San Bernardino, CA, USA

Sweater: Adult 10 hour sweater

Yarn: Woolease

Starting: already did

Jana Trent

Texas

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Schaffhauser's “Florida,” which is a discontinued cotton & rayon.

Special Plans:
I want to do the short sleeves as a bias band in order to keep the bias striping that is in the body of the sweater. But I want some shaping to the sleeve, too, and will have to give some thought to how to accomplish this.

Jana shared a photo of the neckline detail on one of her 3-2 sweaters.

Jana's Neckline Detail

Jana's Neckline Detail Notes:
The yarn is hand dyed cashmere/silk ribbon. A mill end. I just folded the triangle and then slip stitched all around the neckline with a large crochet hook. The old mother-of-pearl button is from my stash. I like the slip stitch as it controls stretching in this yarn, which is heavy and has a tendency to grow.

And now Jana's shared another special neckline treatment! About this one, she writes, “I was digging for a button and came upon a red Bakelite belt buckle, the kind that slides. It seemed made for the collar flap.”

Jana's Neckline Detail #2

Starting: Started in December.

jane braverman

Starting: As soon as the pattern arrives.

Judy Walker

Tucson, AZ

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Neveda Linnen. I found 10 full skeins at my last Guild meeting in an old yellowed box. It is a blend of cotton, linen and viscose in mostly beige with slubs of light green and blue. I think the viscose is a tan wrap around the rest. When I saw this yarn it begged to be made into the 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater! It was made in Holland.

Starting: January 26

Karen Sebung

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Kay Ikola

Trenton, Michigan

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Jenny by Berroco. I started and completed the back over the weekend and have now started the front. This has been a fun sweater to knit and I look forward to finishing it. The Berroco yarn was from my stash and I had gotten tired of the colorway (greens/golds) because I have so much yarn in those colors. Love the feel of the fabric in this yarn. I am making a chest size 50” and am now a little concerned that it may be snug. Oh well, I have a cousin in Calif who loves getting sweaters. Hopefully I will have a picture to share for the Gallery.

Starting: Started in April

And here's Kay's finished sweater. Lovely!

Kay's 3-to-2 Sweater

Kay decided she wanted this sweater for herself, so she frogged back and reknit her sweater to 52”. She writes, “It took every bit of the 10 skeins of Jenny to finish and I sure am glad that I upsized the sweater.”

Kay knit her sweater on a size 6 needle. She decreased her sleeves only one time after working 4”.

Starting: As soon as my pattern arrives.

Linda Rodriguez

Kansas City, MO, USA

Sweater: Simple short-sleeved shell; I'll design on the needles

Yarn: I have a lot of Bernat Soft Boucle (acrylic but luscious to the touch) that I picked up during a recent sale -- variegated southwest colors.

Special Plans:
I want to do something special with the neck and edgings. Don't know what yet. I'm digging through my tons of books and patterns for ideas. If this turns out nicely, I think I'll make several more. I had originally planned on doing a vest and still need a warm-weather vest so may try one of those out of some Fox Fibre natural-colored cotton that I have, as well. I always knit for others, and now that I'm going to do it for myself, I find I'm turning greedy.

Starting: Jan. 15

Yarn: Bernat Sport Weight Cotton Yarn

Starting: 1/17/01

Lynn Park

Alameda, CA 94501

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Probably a beautiful Woolease red or possibly the lovely Neveda Tweed I got two years ago for the CNC I never did--I want this to be a pullover I throw on all the time when it's chilly rather than “a sweater.”

Special Plans:
I'll be at Stitches in Oakland--trying desperately not to spend more than $150 (and probably failing)--and would love to plan to meet some of you.

Starting: February 1

M McNeil

CA

Starting: started on January 19th

Marilyn Matthews

Kankakee, IL USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Totally undecided--but the pattern is ordered.

Special Plans:
I'm the world's greatest frogger--after it lays for a couple years, so I would love to really get a FO.

Progress Report:
I have my pattern, yarn and even a picture of my progress! I'm using a 10.5 circular needle and Lion Brand Homespun in the Tudor color---AND I LOVE IT!!! The back is done and I'm fretting about the placement of the split.

Marilyn's Fabric

Marilyn has now finished. Some notes on her finished sweater:
I finished my 3-2 sweater. Don't ask me how, but I got the flap on the wrong side! I “think” I confused the length with the width but then they were the same size! Or maybe I just got creative without knowing what I was doing. I did ribbing around the neckline to stabilize -ok it was to get the neckline somewhere near the center of the sweater.

Marilyn's Finished Sweater

Starting: Mid/late January

Marsha Baker

West Bloomfield, MI USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Classic Elite - Metro and Fame

Special Plans:
I hope to add some reverse stockinette using the Fame yarn

Marsha sent me a photo of her triangle, and said she's really enjoying this project.

Marsha's Triangle Swatch

Starting: 1-16-02

Marty McNeil

San Leandro, CA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Now that I have my pattern and completed the measurements, I'm off to find the yarn I need. Since this is a Spring/Summer sweater, I'm looking for a cotton/cotton blend in a chunky weight.

Starting: Soon as I get the yarn

Mary Kay Beasley

Richmond, Virginia

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Skacel Riveria

Special Plans:
I was going to try and refrain from joining in but the springtime weather is calling to me and I had this yarn in my stash and the pattern was SO intriguing...that tonight I gave in and have knitted almost 1/2 a ball---

Starting: now

Mary Elizabeth Dunsky

University City, MO

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Well, I have vowed to myself that I would first make every attempt to use “stash” (which fills a large steamer trunk in my studio apt.). But, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up heading to my favorite local haunt, “Meyers House” (in St. Louis) to check out new opportunities in color and texture. Due to mega student loans for a career-change via teacher certification, I really should not spend any more on yarn at this time!...has never stopped me before....I rationalize, if I was “forced” to spend $250.00 on the university parking sticker (for one semester!!! at the state univ.!) then, what's one more sweater's worth of yarn....

Special Plans:
I look forward to sharing in the online dialogue! Also, I look forward to advice from experienced Ample Knitters as to how to create a flattering final product!

PS: I just LOVE seeing everyone's swatches!!! I'll try to send mine in too!

Starting: Feb. 10th, or as soon as pattern arrives!

Mary Hubner

Southern California

Sweater: Pat Kirtland's Amplitudes #7 Kogen Vest

Yarn: Akogore #12 It WAS Discontinued--God Bless the LYS!

Special Plans:
I'll be upsizing just a bit!

Starting: Jan 15, 2002

UPDATE:
I finished my vest April 2002, and put the buttons on. Unfortunately, I had some problems when I wore it unbuttoned--the sides would roll back towards the armholes. I fixed this by using clasps instead of buttons...and it looks great!

Mary Klinedinst

Michele Kesler

Rutherfordton, NC

Sweater #1: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: I'm using mostly Classic Elite Willough (silk/cotton) in black and four medium/dusty colors plus two colors of mercerized cotton. The colors are purple, gold, aqua, mauve, rust, and sage, all “dusty” or gray-toned.

Special Plans:
I'm doing a stripe version with a 12 row repeat: working 4 rows of black, 4 rows of color, 2 rows of black, 2 rows of color. I change the color every repeat. Right now, I plan to make short sleeves and the collar “flap” in solid black. All finishing details are open to change though!

Michele has now finished her sweater. For more details, see her gallery page.

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: GGH “Bali,” a soft 50% cotton & 50% acrylic chenille, a variegated yarn in lime green, aquamarine, periwinkle & yellow. This yarn is a pleasure to knit!

Special Plans:
I am frogging a UFO to re-cycle into this sweater. I think I have plenty of this yarn, but will make sleeve decisions later when I see how much is left - will probably go with short sleeves.

I don't plan to do ribbing on the bottom - will look in a stitch pattern book for interesting options that don't draw the fabric in. May do sleeve cuffs the same way.

Starting: started 1/11/02

Sally Wickes

Katy, TX

Sweater: Delta Burke Garter Rib Pullover

Yarn: Hayfield Ibiza. It is 50% acrylic, 33% cotton and 17% linen. It is a slightly thick and thin texture and the color is the palest peach and cream.

Special Plans:
I started the sweater 4 years ago. The yarn is discontinued but I have plenty. I have been knitting for just about everyone else in the world and now it is my turn.

The pullover pattern comes with a turtle neck. NOT IN TEXAS. I am changing it to a jewel neck and would like some suggestions about finishing the neck off......maybe a picot edge.

Starting: Started again last week

Shelda Eggers

Columbia, Missouri

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: A hodgepodge! I'm trying to combine three different yarns: Crystal Palace Waikiki in “Dusty Lilac” (a variegated beige, rose, and lavendar), a beige cotton from Paton's called “Cotton Perle,” and Gelato ribbon from Fiesta in “Abalone.” I tried to use the first two (knit together) last summer for Michele Wyman's “Summer Shimmer Sleeveless Shell” but didn't have enough yarn. So now I've added the Gelato ribbon. We'll see what happens!

I played around with these yarns quite a bit, and my swatch below shows what I ended up with. So far I am just loving the fabric I'm getting, and the sweater is going very fast. I'm alternating the Waikiki and Gelato, both held together with the Cotton Perle beige strand. I'm knitting 8 rows in stockinette with the beige and Waikiki, and then two rows in seed stitch with beige and Gelato. The Waikiki and Gelato are amazingly similar in color, and even with the difference in texture I found I needed to do something a little different with the ribbon to make it noticable. I don't have a lot of the Waikiki, but I'm hoping that I will have enough to use it held together with the Gelato for the ribbings (without the beige). We'll see ;)

Special Plans:
I'm looking forward to exploring using multiple and variegated yarns in this project. I have a sweater that fits well that is cut very similarly, so I'm glad to have a model for measurements. I also want to find a really neat button for the assymetrical neck. I really like the look of that!

Starting: 1/21/02

Finished: 5/6/02
I ended up not liking my “flap” and doing a v-neck instead. I did two rows of garter stitch as the finishing around the neck, sleeves, and bottom. My sweater came out somewhat longer than I had intended.

Sheryl Roethlinger

Springfield, Illinois, USA

Sweater: Diamond Patch Sweater

Yarn: Berroco Cotton Twist 70% Cotton, 30% Rayon in a multi-color

Special Plans:
I knit loosely, so will use the 42” pattern but in size 7 needles to come up with 43” width total.

Starting: January 30, 2002

Sue Parker

Fairmount, IN, USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Berroco Tuscany, a multicolor cotton silk blend

Special Plans:
I will be making my 3-2 sweater in the sleeveless version due to a limited amount of this yarn I chose from my stash. Jackie tells me that the worksheet calculations are very gernerous so I may in fact have enough to do short sleeves. That is a decision I can make much later in the construction of this sweater.

Starting: January 15th

Susan Blake

Denver, Colorado, USA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Susan's Sweater

Sue's notes on her neckline treatment:
I was a mite distressed about the fold back neckline - as whatever I did, I just didn't like it. And I loved the 3 yarns and the diagonal lines they made. After almost wearing the neck out by trying different things, I simply folded it to the inside, and then picked up the stitches on the new edge, and knit a row and purled a row and bound off. I intend to leave it right where it is (the flap is now inside).

Starting: January 15

Threesa Milligan

Seattle, WA

Sweater: 3-to-2 Any Gauge Sweater

Yarn: Yarn from my stash that I no longer have a label for! It is cotton, variegated and soft and slightly “thick and thin.” The colors are dusky pink, blue and yellow. I am punctuating this with zaps of brighter purple, pink and teal.

Special Plans:
I didn't want a stripe pattern or a seed stitch effect. I am using a random stitch (I've heard it called “scatter stitch”) where the knits and purls are placed randomly.

I have enough yarn to turn this into a twin set but am not sure if the front would work in two pieces since the instructions warn against a long length. I will try a sample of a long rectangle and see what happens.

Starting: 1/10/02

Starting: Just ordered my pattern.

Zem Jolivet

Grande Prairie, Alberta Canada

Sweater: I am working on the Enchanted Forest sweater

Yarn: I am using Patons Shetland Chunky.

Starting: I started EF in Sept 01 and have about 50 rows of back done.
